The mandate is in line with B.C.`s commitment to balanced budgets and sound financial management. Currently, nearly 325,000 public sector employees – nearly 98 percent – are covered by interim agreements or ratified under B.C`s sustainable services negotiating mandate. The collective agreement between the Faculties and Staff Association (ASL), which represents the faculty and staff of all campuses and the university, expired on March 31, 2019. The parties will begin negotiating a renewed collective agreement on February 21, 2020.
