The AbF agreements were launched in 2005 and establish viable business models for both Ford and selected suppliers. The agreements outline comprehensive and formal business practices to improve future cooperation, including the progressive advance payment of engineering and development costs, expanded procurement and data transparency. As part of the agreement, Ford is increasing the volume of business with selected suppliers. Since its launch, Ford has identified 46 production suppliers and 19 non-serial ABF suppliers. Ford Motor Company has announced seven new suppliers to the Aligned Business Framework (ABF), bringing the total number of companies on the ABF network to 65. As part of ABF, Ford and its suppliers enter into long-term contracts to strengthen cooperation and promote mutual profitability and technological development.
